Irregular Periods: What If You Don’t Have to Accept Them as “Normal”?

Sometimes, the things we learn to live with are the very things we shouldn’t have to accept as “normal.” I had been receiving regular chiropractic adjustments at Atlas Chiropractic Clinic for a while and absolutely loved the care I was receiving. During one of my routine visits, I casually mentioned that my menstrual cycle had become extremely irregular. I hadn’t had a cycle in 56 days. My chiropractor immediately recognized that something wasn’t right and took the time to listen, explain what he was doing, and make sure I felt completely comfortable throughout the process. He paid special attention to the areas he felt could be contributing to the issue and made an additional adjustment to my pelvic area, carefully walking me through every step.

What happened next was something I never expected. I walked out of the office feeling like a completely different person. I remember thinking, “Is this how everyone feels all the time?” I was amazed by how much better I felt. I was told that if my cycle didn’t begin within a week, I should come back in. Just two days later, my cycle started—and it was completely normal. After experiencing this, I couldn’t help but wonder how long I had been accepting something as “normal” simply because I had gotten used to it. This experience reminded me that our bodies are constantly communicating with us, and we shouldn’t ignore those signals. Every person’s journey is different, but if something doesn’t feel right, don’t lose hope and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Your story isn’t over yet. Sometimes, the first step toward a better tomorrow is simply listening to what your body has been trying to tell you.
